Nic - Nancy and Belle - is a creative human, who works as an illustrator, card designer, and mural artist based in Bristol

CONCEPT: Pink backdrop with pink plinth, and creative shapes in brand colours.

Nic is a super talented illustrator who was getting her website redesigned by the lovely Polly Annish Studio.

She wanted personality filled portraits, that were colourful and playful, and would suit her new website design.

I painted a couple of backdrops together with a plinth, and Nic bought along some shapes that she had made, and painted in various shades of orange and coral.

We created a range of portraits on the pink backdrop, playing with wiggles of movement that I turned into stop motion portraits.

We also captured some more natural shots, using my white studio wall and a mini wooden ladder.

After the shoot, I send Nic a link to a private gallery where she could pick her favourite images for editing.

Once the list was confirmed, I turned a couple of the compositions into stop motion portraits, and Nic loved the extra element of playful fun.

Having my photo taken is my idea of hell, but Faye helped me feel relaxed and even excited about it.

Faye collaborated with me on the Art Direction, and I loved the ideas we bounced around before the shoot.

The images are fantastic, super versatile and the gifs really make my website stand out.

I’m Faye, a Bristol-based photographer with a passion for working with independent businesses, designers and makers.

I have over 15 years experience creating product and interior photography.

I launched my Behind the Brand shoots in 2023, because I loved working closely with my small business clients, learning about their processes, and seeing where they worked.

Being invited behind the scenes of their brands, felt like something that would appeal to their customers too, so it was a great addition to my services.
