SHOOT: Behind the Brand photoshoot
CONCEPT: Capturing the entire process of Carys’s illustration service from idea development, mark making, collaging, to digital design, as well as fresh portraits.
I visited Cary’s home studio in Bristol, to photography behind the scenes of her lovely illustration business.
We captured a range of images, from posed portraits, hands at work, to details of Carys’s workspace and tools.
Focusing on Carys’s process, we moved around her studio, building up to the messy process of ink mark making.
Carys had multiple outfit changes, so there was variety to her portraits.
We also created a little stop motion portrait of the ink painting too.
Faye is super easy to work with.
From our initial emails and consultation call I definitely felt like we were on the same wavelength.
I’m not naturally comfortable in front of the camera, but Faye put me at ease and captured a wide variety of shots, in a brand session that was surprisingly enjoyable!
I love having a stock of quality images which feel like me, to share across my website, emails and social media.

I’m Faye, a Bristol-based photographer with a passion for working with independent businesses, designers and makers.
I have over 15 years experience creating product and interior photography.
I launched my Behind the Brand shoots in 2023, because I loved working closely with my small business clients, learning about their processes, and seeing where they worked.
Being invited behind the scenes of their brands, felt like something that would appeal to their customers too, so it was a great addition to my services.
